Oops! I Said It Again: Understanding and Treating Speech Sound Disorders

This session will describe the most common speech sound disorders, including articulation, phonology, and apraxia of speech. Susan will provide some hands-on ideas for treating each one. Discover therapy materials and techniques to help you get the most out of your therapy sessions. Participants will gain knowledge of activities that can be used to motivate students who may be frustrated by an inability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Presenter: Susan Smith, M.S., CCC-SLP

Susan Smith is a licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist with nearly 25 years of experience working in public schools and pediatric private practice. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University. Susan served as Lead SLP for the Scottsdale Unified School District for 10 years before founding Tribecca Speech Therapy, PLLC.

Susan takes a holistic, individualized approach to therapy, working closely with families and school teams to support children ages 3 to 18+ with a wide range of speech and language challenges. Her areas of expertise include articulation, phonological disorders, apraxia of speech, and motor speech disorders. She has advanced training in Childhood Apraxia of Speech (DTTC) and is a nationally recognized provider and community research clinician in the field.

Course is open to all licensed therapists at no charge & dinner will be served!
