Presenter: Dr. Lynn Remson
Semantics is more than simply vocabulary development and idioms. It has a developmental course similar to the other components of speech and language. Symbolic meaning progresses from concrete to abstract and from single words to discourse/text. This presentation will describe a developmental sequence for learning meaning and illustrate strategies for helping learners of all ages by manipulating stimulus levels and response levels. As in all of her presentations, Dr. Remson will use storybooks as a way to systematically address semantic development. Sample IEP goals will also be presented.
