IEP teams must consider the need for AT for ALL students, yet many do not meaningfully discuss what that may mean for students with academic deficits in reading, math and writing. This session will provoke thinking on the limitations SLD students have that limit access to the general curriculum and the potential of Assistive Technology to enable access in reading, math and writing.

Ms. Philips is the President of the Arizona Education Cadre, a retired Arizona State Director of Special Education and has also worked as a local special education director (Scottsdale USD, Deer Valley USD), clinical coordinator, school and hospital speech pathologist and adjunct faculty for Scottsdale Community College. She is a guest lecturer for the Sandra Day O’Conner College of Law and Midwestern University Health Services program.
